Good news for Texas drivers but some local businesses here in Brownfield beg to differ. They say while lower prices are good news for some, it still doesn’t make an impact on their businesses. Average gasoline prices in Texas are slowly going down as they have fallen to 15.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $4.36/g today, according to the most recent GasBuddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. GasBuddy’s is a tech company based in Boston that operates apps and websites based on finding realtime fuel prices at more than 140,000 gas stations all over the world. Prices in Texas are 19.2 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand $1.55/g higher than a year ago. The price of diesel has fallen 6.3 cents nationally in the past week and stands at $5.72 per gallon.

The July 1st celebration brought out the best in the community this weekend with amazing food and pride about the great nation.There were 3 big July 1 events. The July 1st celebration started off with some hot wheels with various people from the community showing off their precious cars. The golf cart parade followed with people cruising and showing off their appreciation to this nation by decorating their golf carts with red white and blue.The Hogg Maulies got the crowd dancing the night away under the pops of the fireworks. The community certainly had a blast and are most definitely looking forward to next year.

The family of Jose Nicolas Silva, 83, of Brownfield announces the passing of their beloved husband, father and grandfather on July 1, 2022. He peacefully left this world surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. He will fondly be remembered as a man of great faith. He was born on March 15, 1939 in Rio Grande City, Texas to Pedro Sr. and Herminia Silva. He met the love of his life, Maria Silva, and mother of his children in Sublette, Kansas. They were married on December 21, 1966 and spent 55 amazing years together.
