The Brownfield Industrial Development Corporation met on Tuesday, February 8 for their regularly scheduled board meeting in council chamber at city hall. With a quorum present tthen meeting was called to order and the minutes from the previous meeting were approved.. Chairman Steve Carter led a discussion with the board regarding the recruitment and hiring of a new executive director. MyTurn: Time to bring the shot clock to high school

Last year the University Interscholastic League meeting had on its agenda the idea of bringing in the shot clock to Class 6A and 5A for boys and girls’ basketball. The UIL decided not to go forward with the idea but the truth is the shot clock would be beneficial to high school basketball and the players. First off, let me say I understand the biggest concern many schools and districts have with the shot clock is going to be financial as many are going to say they cannot afford to buy, install, and teach someone how to use the shot clock. And that is a point but when you go to these gyms you notice they all have electronic scoreboards, so that idea of not being able to buy, install, and teach how to use it goes out the window.
