Elections office prepares for early voting

The Terry County Elections Office has been busy preparing for the Republican and Democratic Primaries . Early Voting begins Monday, Feb. 14. The hours for early voting are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturday, February 19 early voting will be from 8 a.m. until noon and Sunday, February 20 from noon until 5 p.m. There will be no early voting on Monday, February 21 in accordance with Presidents’ Day. Early voting will being Tuesday, February 22 through Thursday, February 24 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. The last day of early voting is Friday, February 25 from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Early voting will be done at the Elections Office at 507-A West Main. Early voters need just their ID or voter registration card to vote.

Second Annual Chocolate Crawl

Second Annual Chocolate Crawl - The Brownfield Chamber of Commerce held the second annual Chocolate Crawl on Thursday, February 10. The event's purpose is to encourage residents to shop local participating businesses. Participating businesses included Oooh La La, who partnered with Antima Cellars, Brownfield Floral, The Triple D Winery with Sweet Lil Peace, Whitehouse Parker, and many others. The businesses offered chocolate sweets to visitors to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The participating business decorated their locales with a Valentine Day theme.

Robert Gene Rose

Robert Gene Rose, age 83 of Whitney Texas passed away Sunday February 6, 2022, in Waco Texas. A funeral service was held at 3:00 pm Friday, February 11, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Bruce Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Valley Cemetery in Whitney. A visitation was held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, February 10, 2022. Robert was born November 15, 1938, in Brownfield Texas to John Riley and Mary Elizabeth Rose. He was in the US Army, he worked in the petroleum oil field for over 41 years, and 21 years with Oxydential City Service. Bob and Carleen retired to Whitney Texas in 2002. Robert enjoyed camping with his family, going to Las Vegas, and watching sports. He also loved spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Carleen Rose; brothers and sisters, Gladys Geneva, Jay Rose, Cue Rose, Inez Duffy, Irene Brown, Ed Rose, Nina Depoister, Fay Warren, Donald Rose, Christine Purvis, Mark Rose; and parents, John Riley and Mary Elizabeth Rose. Robert is survived by his children, Scott Rose and wife Teresa of Levelland, Brian Rose and wife Lisa of Sundown, Carrie Glass and husband Matt Glass of Cibolo; and sister, Mary Nell of Odessa, grandchildren, Aaron Jordan Rose, Audra Breann Rose, Lawrence Riley Rose, Robert Evan Rose, and Rian Michael Rose of Levelland, and Michael Alan Glass and Nathan Tyler Glass both of Cibolo.

Shauna George

Funeral Service for Shauna George, 70, of Brownfield will be held at 10 am Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Brownfield First Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 6:00- 7:30 pm Monday, February 14, 2022, at Brownfield Funeral Home. Shauna was born on November 24, 1951, to Dale and Trucene George in Brownfield. She graduated from Brownfield High School and attended the nursing program, earning a degree in nursing. She was a member of Brownfield First Baptist Church and enjoyed attending church. She enjoyed watching sports, especially Tech and the Dallas Cowboys. She loved her niece and nephew and never missed attending their sporting events. Shauna is preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Trucene George and nephew, Scotty George. Shauna is survived by her brother Scott George and wife Debbie Thompson of Lubbock; niece, Stormy George and nephew, Sterling George.
