Brownfield’s District 5 has two choices come early voting

On Monday, early voting opens for registered voters in Terry County with two polling places: in Brownfield at the Annex Building and in Meadow at the community center. The ballots will be different for each city as Meadow residents will be voting between four candidates for three at large trustee seats. In Brownfield, District 5 will be voting between incumbent Councilman Eric Horton or challenger Julian Silva Hernandez. Early voting begins Monday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and goes until Friday, April 23; with the last chance to vote early being Monday, April 26 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Tuesday, April 27.

Brownfield tennis takes district title on home court

The Brownfield tennis team hosted the Class 3A District championships for boys’ single, doubles, girls’ single, doubles, and mixed pairs. The two-day tournament began on Monday, April 12, and finished on Tuesday, April 13 with the Cubs and Lady Cubs sweeping all the titles. Brownfield not only won the boys’ and girls’ single and doubles as well as the mixed pairs, but won the overall Class 3A district championship with 125 points.

World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates - COTTON - April 2021

COTTON: The 2020/21 U.S. cotton supply and demand forecasts show higher exports and lower ending stocks relative to last month. Production and domestic mill use are unchanged. The export forecast is raised 250,000 bales, to 15.75 million, based on the pace of recent sales and shipments. Ending stocks are now forecast at 3.9 million bales, equivalent to 22 percent of total disappearance. The marketing year price received by upland cotton producers is projected to average 68 cents per pound, a reduction of 1 cent from last month.
