The Parks and Recreation department is currently working on getting the pool ready for its opening on Sunday, May 30. There is some maintenance work being done and should be finished in a week. The department is currently taking applications for lifeguards.

Parks and Recreation worker Darren “Dee” Doyle drives a lawn mower over a field at the Brownfield Sports Complex, which will host the inaugural baseball and softball season for the Terry County Youth Sports. He worked on all six fields that will be used for baseball and softball. When asked why he does it, Dee responded "I do it for the kids."

Texas’ March sales tax still affected by winter storms

When Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar released the March 2021 sales tax, he mentioned there was remitted revenue from February in the March sales tax. For the month of March, the sales tax revenue was $2.63 billion a 2.4 percent decrease from this time in 2020.
