The All District selections for 4A team tennis have been released, and the Brownfield Cubs came home with substantial rewards. Darian Alvarado was named newcomer of the year for the district and first team all district in singles. Ebony Constancio earned first team all district in singles as well after a very good year for the junior. Coach Rich Hammons said “every player in our top seven boys and girls earned all district recognition. We were one of only a handful of 3A schools that competed at the 4A level, and we finished as bi-district champions. Our team continued to improve throughout the year and our depth improved, as evidenced by the all distict selections.” The full list of honors is as follows:

The Brownfield girls’ basketball team followed up its 73-60 win over Tascosa with a 65-40 win over Lubbock Estacado on Tuesday. With the win, the Lady Cubs remain unbeaten with the last two wins coming on the road in back to back games.

The Meadow girls’ basketball team played back-to-back road games against Cotton Center on Monday and Morton on Tuesday with the Lady Broncos winning both games. The Lady Broncos defeated Cotton Center 38-21 and Morton 42-25.

The Meadow boys’ basketball team played back to back road games against Cotton Center on Monday and Morton on Tuesday, with the Broncos winning both games. The Broncos defeated Cotton Center 44-33 and won 42-30 over Morton.

After playing the last two games on the road, both wins, the Meadow girls’ basketball team returned home to face O’Donnell on Friday night. The Lady Broncos (2-3) put up a valiant effort but at the end of four quarters, they fell to the Lady Eagles 51-33. Fayth Haile led Meadow with 19 points.

The Wellman-Union girls’ basketball team was on the road Friday night visiting Southcrest after its game against Sharp Academy was canceled. That game was to be played at home Saturday morning, but the Lady ‘Cats went up to Lubbock instead and put up a valiant effort in a 48-22 loss.

The Wellman-Union boys’ basketball team traveled to Lubbock on Friday night to face Southcrest after its home game against Sharp Academy was canceled. The Wildcats tried to steal a road win from Southcrest but three cold quarters kept them from celebrating in the road court. Wellman fell to Southcrest 37-21.
