On Monday morning at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock, Brownfield cross country coach Shea Myatt watched her two runners, Ruth Lozano and Isidora Garcia, compete in the regional meet. The final results for each Lady Cub in the regional meet is Lozano finished in 74th place with a time of 14 minutes, 59 seconds, and 30 tenths of a second and Garcia in 92nd place with a time of 15:15.30 in a race with over 110 runners. Myatt was proud of her players and the team as a whole.

But on Tuesday, the Lady Cubs went up against a team that is just as good as they are, making it a very competitive semifinal match up. Unfortunately for the Lady Cubs the ball bounced in favor of the Lady Eagles more than it did for them, in a loss of 25-17, 25-20, 25-22. Yet after the loss, Brownfield coach Mallorie Ellis was pleased with the performance and effort given by her players.

The game will be remembered for the many unforced errors committed by both sides from four hits, net violations, and serves into the net. But it was the Lady Cubs who shook off the errors and after a competitive first set, took control of the game to win the match 25-21, 25-13, 25-13.
