The Brownfield baseball team opened its summer league games hosting Seagraves on Tuesday, June 8. The Cubs defeated their opponent 14-5 in five innings that included a grand slam by Adriano Mireles. The Cubs next summer league game is against Snyder on the road, Friday, June 11.

The Cubs varsity team faced Lamesa in game one and Tahoka in game two, winning both games with a 20-8 win over Lamesa and 28-14 over Tahoka. With the JV team winning both games, Brownfield football went undefeated.
Read moreThe Brownfield boys’ basketball team participated in the Frenship Tiger summer basketball association summer league with back to back games on the first night of the four week schedule. The Cubs played the first week at Lubbock Cooper High School Auxiliary gym, with the Cubs winning the first game against Roosevelt 44-36, but losing the second game 74-63 to Olton in the varsity division. In the first game against Roosevelt, the two teams played a back and forth game trading baskets. The Cubs held a slim 23-22 lead after the first 20 minutes, and came out and hit shots early in the second half. In the second game, Brownfield went into the half trailing 25-24, but fatigue hurt the Cubs in the second half as Olton went on to build a 14 point lead before the Cubs made a run in the final five minutes to cut the lead to single digits. The Cubs next two games will be on Tuesday, June 8 at Frenship High School junior varsity gym. Game 1 will be against Littlefield and game 2 will be played right after against Idalou, with tip off set for 8 p.m.

Read moreThe Meadow boys’ golf team is competing in the University Interscholastic League Class 1A golf tournament being held at the Lighthouse Country Club in Kingsland, Texas. At the end of the first day of the two-day tournament, Meadow is currently in sixth place as a team with a total score of 408. The Broncos are represented by Niko Castaneda, Bryden Smith, Dylon Fabila, Taylor Caswell, and Brady Caswell. Meadow teed off at 8 a.m. on May 17, to start its participation in the meet. The club has a yardage of 6,257 and is a par 71. At the end of the first day, Brady Caswell sits in ninth place with an individual score of 87. Taylor Caswell hit a 95 to sit in 20th place in the individual list. The second round will be on Tuesday, May 17.
