LAMESA – The Brownfield softball team made a short trip to play the undefeated Lady Tornadoes in Lamesa. The last time these two teams faced off the Lady Cubs lost 9-5 at home and knew a win would give them a share of the District 3-3A championship, but a loss would hand Lamesa the outright title. After seven innings the Lady Cubs lost to Lamesa 8-1 and watched the Lady Tornadoes celebrate on their home field and with their fans.

He hit the ball to right field bringing in the two runners on second and first, thus ending the game on the University Interscholastic League 10-run rule. The walk-off also snapped the Cubs’ three-game losing streak in District 3-3A.

The Lady Cubs defeated Muleshoe 10-0 in five innings due to the University Interscholastic League 10-run rule. With the win, the Lady Cubs extend their winning streak to four games and continue to challenge Lamesa for the District 3-3A championship. The game was Brownfield’s Senior Night. The Lady Cubs will be on the road visiting Lamesa on Tuesday and will close their district Saturday at Dimmitt.

Read moreThe Brownfield tennis team hosted the Class 3A District championships for boys’ single, doubles, girls’ single, doubles, and mixed pairs. The two-day tournament began on Monday, April 12, and finished on Tuesday, April 13 with the Cubs and Lady Cubs sweeping all the titles. Brownfield not only won the boys’ and girls’ single and doubles as well as the mixed pairs, but won the overall Class 3A district championship with 125 points.
