Read moreThe Brownfield Cubs football team did not have the start they wanted as they couldn’t hold on to an onside kickoff from Kermit to start the game. But the Cubs defense was able to hold Kermit and force turnovers on down. With their first drive, the Cubs quarterback Zarius Garcia ran on the outside of the Kermit defense for a 78-yard rushing TD to give the Cubs their second lead in the season, the first being in the Big Spring game which was called off due to lightning. That was the beginning of what became the Cubs first district, home, and overall win in the season as they gave their fans a 41-25 win. It was also a big step in fighting for a playoff spot.

The Broncos, despite having the early lead in the first quarter, were unable to hold off the Coyotes for the win. The Broncos will look to have a bye week next week, as they use the time to prepare for the Whiteface Antelopes in Whiteface the following week.
