Senior Center menu changes with high temperatures-The Brownfield Senior Center will be serving sandwiches, salads, and other types of food when the temperature is forecast to be 98 degrees and higher. When the temperature is predicted to be lower, then the Senior Center will serve what has been scheduled.

A 2014 Chevy sedan

A 2014 Chevy sedan collided with two signs on South 1st Street, Friday at 6:17 p.m. Brownfield Police and EMS were at the scene. A passenger, who was six months pregnant, was transported to the hospital as a precaution.

ACES Health Fair returns on Saturday

After not being able to hold its annual health fair last year, Arnold Community Educational Services (ACES) is set to host the health fair on Saturday. The health fair will begin at 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and has 20 vendors participating on the west side of the square at South 6th street. ACES. will also be serving food and drinks at the event. Mary Jane Jackson spoke on the return of the fair and what they hope to accomplish.

Mr. Nic receives retirement send-off from community

After 41 years of teaching Eddie Nicholson, affectionately known as Mr. Nic, retired from Brownfield ISD at the end of the school year. Unfortunately, Mr. Nic’s retirement during COVID did not allow him to receive a proper send-off but members from the community decided to surprise him with a drive-by send-off Saturday morning.

Harriet Burleson Flache

Harriet Burleson Flache was born in Lubbock, Texas on November 17, 1953 to Noyce and Joe Burleson of Meadow. She graduated from Meadow High School and attended Southwestern University, Texas Tech and graduated from Southwest Texas State. She married Arthur Flache in Meadow in 1976. Their son, Sawyer Burleson Flache was born August 12, 1987. Her accomplishments and contributions ranged from excellence in high school theater to directing children’s community theater workshops. She was active in the Methodist Church, a teacher, a volunteer, a mentor, a friend. She was also a wonderful mother and a great Mimi to her granddaughters Kailynn and Corah. She was preceded in death by her mother Noyce and her beloved son Sawyer. She is survived by her father Joe, her granddaughters and her former husband. She fought cancer with steely resolve, working to the end. If inclined, memorials would be appreciated to the Noyce Burleson Memorial Scholarship Fund, at the Community Foundation of West Texas, 6102 82nd Street 8b, Lubbock, TX 79424
