Terry County unemployment rises in June

Texas Workforce Commission released the unemployment figures for June and it shows the unemployment rate fell to 6.5 percent in the state but in Terry County, the rate increased. Last month, Terry County had an unemployment rate of 6.4, but according to Workforce Solutions South Plains and Texas Labor Market Information, the county’s unemployment increased to 7.4 percent. Texas Labor Market Information data shows Terry’s employment is 4,338; a civilian labor force of 4,684; and 346 unemployed.

Texas Comptroller releases June sales tax revenue

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar released the June sales tax revenue which totaled $3.16 billion. This was an 18.1 percent increase in sales tax revenues from last year and an increase of 10.4 percent from two years ago. The June sales tax is based on sales made in May and remitted to the agency in June. Hegar credits the pandemic from last year for the decrease in sales tax.

Terry County Producers Have Until Aug. 2 to Submit FSA County Committee Nominations

Brownfield, Texas, July 19, 2021 – Farmers and ranchers have until Aug. 2, 2021, to nominate candidates to serve on the Terry County Farm Service Agency (FSA) Committee. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) accepts nominations each year in certain Local Administrative Areas (LAAs) for individuals to serve on these locally led committees.
