Summertime Fun(ds)

Summer is here, and high school students have stepped away from school and now have the time, and the opportunity, to earn money and gain work experience. But where are they working and why? And what skills will they learn along the way? A local high school senior working at Sonic says his main reason for working there is “money.” He explained that he has to pay for his car, a mustang. He said that he’s enjoyed working because of the friends he’s made, he smiled and motioned toward the two women standing on either side of him. He said that he has learned money management through his job and that he would take that skill with him throughout his life.

Gas Prices Continue to Skyrocket

Gas prices are skyrocketing, forcing people to make difficult life decisions. A Brownfield local explained to the Brownfield News that he lives on a fixed retirement income. The barbecue masters will then give their all to win the fame, glory, and money that comes with being named the champ. The contest is based on a point system, and the top qualifiers can move on to compete in the national barbeque competition.

I have not arrived

Do you know anyone who’s ever said (and meant it): “I have arrived” (?) I’m not talking about getting off the plane in the Caribbean for vacation, or teasingly showing up at the parent’s house for the holidays. I mean, I have personally never met anyone who legitimately thinks they’ve arrived IN LIFE.
