The 806 All-star game will be hosted by your hometown at the NEW Brownfield ISD gym! The All-star game is set to take place on Saturday, June 4. The 5th and 6th grade girls will play at 2 pm, while the 5th and 6th grade boys hit the court at 3:30 pm. The 7th grade and 8th grade girls play at 5 pm, and at 6:30 pm the 7th grade 8th grade boys play.

Despite a recent price drop, higher gas prices continue to impact businesses and individuals all over the country. A Brownfield local explained, “gas prices affect everything.” He meant that the rising cost of gas by extension raises the cost of other goods and services. For example, he said shipping costs have risen tremendously. His company’s shipper showed him the cost of shipping the same item today in comparison to last year. The price difference was staggering, he explained. But he said “ship it anyway.” He had no choice, he explained. He added, “if it keeps going like this it doesn’t matter how much you’ve saved, it’s going to affect everyone.”

Not surprisingly, there is a lot of anger, finger-pointing, and confusion surrounding last week’s devastating school shooting in Uvalde. When Texas Governor Greg Abbot arrived in tandem with President Joe Biden to pay respects outside of Robb Elementary School, Governor Abbot was greeted with boos from the crowd. Later when President Biden was leaving a church after having a prayer session with Uvalde locals he was turned away from the crowd with chants of, “do something! Don’t just come here, do something!” The people want change. No one wants to see a tragedy like this happen again. But what can be done?

Terry County County Auditor Jan Hudson is retiring after 41 years of honorable service. For nearly half of the last century she has “never betrayed trust and served honorably,” said Judge Moore, the man who hired her. Jan Hudson said with a bright eyed smile,“it was a great job.”
