Brownfield Texas Renegades win 2020 USSSA Fall Mex Tex

In a month and 11 days as a new team in USSSA slow pitch softball, Brownfield’s Texas Renegades won their first tournament, the 2020 Fall Mex Tex Tournament at the Bill Williams Sports Complex in Midland. The three day tournament saw the Texas Renegades finish with a 5-1 record in double elimination play with their only loss coming from the Texas Heat when both teams were undefeated at 3-0. The Heat defeated the Renegades 23-20 in the first meeting between the two.

PCCA Announces Year-End Cash Distributions

LUBBOCK, TX - (Sept. 16, 2020) - Today at its 67 th Annual Meeting, Lubbock-based Plains Cotton Cooperative Association announced fiscal year-end further cash distribution to its grower-owners totaling $24.73 million. Walk2TalkIt

On Saturday September 19 a couple of hundred people set out to bring awareness to suicide. Stetson Wheatley and Madison Bolt hosted a “Walk to Talk it” event at Coleman Park. The Brownfield community has seen, in recent weeks and months, devastating heartbreak because of suicide. Wheatley felt it was necessary to bring awareness and support to the cause of speaking out about suicide. Thilda Flores, who’s son Justin took his own life in March, spoke about suicide to the crowd before the walk/run began. Tears streamed down the face of almost every person there that morning, realizing this is a subject that must be talked about.

Obviously 2020 is an odd year... not in the numerical sense, but the peculiar and weird way. Last Friday added another situation of strange things to its resume. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away. Now I know that’s not strange that someone who is 87 and had pancreatic cancer died, its the situation that has caused some to. well. you know. panic!

Lady Cubs volleyball overcome slow start in sweep

After a two hour bus drive the fourth ranked Brownfield volleyball team began conference play against Friona. Brownfield struggled to get any rhythm in the beginning of the first set, before breaking away for a 25-18 win. From that win the Lady Cubs began to play their normal game taking the next two sets, 25-15 and 25-15, to get the sweep and the first win in conference play. Lady Cubs head coach Mallorie Ellis praised her players for overcoming the slow start on the road.
