Wildcats fall short in reaching playoffs

The Wellman-Union Wildcats basketball team lost at home to Loop 40-30 in a seeding game for the fourth seed in District 7-1A and a spot in the Bi-District round against Grady on Tuesday night. Keagon Dominguez and Julius Alaniz led the Wildcats with 8 points each. The Wildcats lost the rebounding battle 37-28, assists battle 10-8, and blocks 3-1. They defeated Loop in steals 14-12 and won the turnover battle 10-8. The Wildcats end their District 7-1A with a 3-7 record for fifth place. Head Coach Kody Bell was proud of his players performance and having a chance to play for the final playoff spot.

Broncos end district with a win, look towards playoffs

The Meadow Broncos won their final district game of the season against the Loop Longhorns, 65-46 at home on Tuesday night. The Broncos were led by Tate McBee with 13 points, and Wes Woodard with 10 points. Bryden Smith, Taylor Caswell, and Jimmy German each had eight ponts. The Broncos will hit the road on Tuesday to face Garden City at Lamesa in the first round of playoffs.
