Internet Coverage Coming to the Brownfield “Donut”

The Commisioner’s Court met with a joking, positive, and friendly attitude on Monday morning. “Does the wind blow in Terry County,” a representative of Poka Lambro said jokingly, the court laughed and he continued, Poka Lambro is a “cooperative formed in 1950 to bring phones to the farms,” but today Poka Lambro is more focused on bringing the internet to rural areas rather than phones. The representative explained, “rural co-op, we’ve got it covered, the metro places, the higher density towns we’ve got that covered so when we look at it and based on our own surveys, and getting calls from people that say can you just get me internet we believe that the unserved areas are probably about 250 to 300 establishments in what we call the donut. So we’ve got co-op covered and we got Brownfield covered and then you imagine a donut around the outskirts of Brownfield that’s where we believe the biggest unserved area is in Terry County… And now I wanted to talk about funding. It’s coming out through the infrastructure act.
