The court was shown what the proposed tax rate is and how it was devised and the proposed budget showing the revenue and expenditure summary.

Read moreThe Brownfield City Council met Thursday morning to an unusually packed building, some attendees stood in the hallway. Those in attendance are current city employees ranging from the fire department to the police department, and the many utility divisions such as electrical and water. The workers came out to support each other as the Council’s agenda included the Texas Municipal League intergovernmental employee benefits pool regarding the city health insurance program. Ten people signed up to comment on the agenda item.

This school year will be much different for everyone involved as it is a return to normalcy after doing virtual school last year due to COVID, but there will be some significant changes as middle school students will be attending their new campus and high school students will attend a temporary campus until the new high school’s construction is completed.

The Lady Cubs and Cubs went up against a formidable team in the first game of district play, and the Lady Cubs and Cubs used a run in singles play to seal an upset 11-8 win over the Maidens and Indians. The win also secured head coach Rich Hammons’ 200th win of his career.
