Funeral services for Janice Layne Dodson was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Brownfield Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Seaton officiating. There will be a family visitation on Monday, October 5, 2020, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Brownfield Funeral Home. Janice Layne Dodson, age 66, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, October 2, 2020. Jan was the first-born daughter of Bob and Nonie Mason on December 5, 1953 in Post, Texas. Jan attended Brownfield High School where she met Olen, the love of her life. They married on May 13, 1972 at Crescent Hill Church of Christ in Brownfield, Texas and just celebrated 48 years of marriage. Jan’s gentle, kind, and compassionate spirit reflected her deep love for Jesus. She was a simple person who asked for little and gave selflessly to her family and friends. Jan was always quick to listen and opened her home to all kids throughout the years. She joyfully worked for many years serving the senior citizens of the XYZ Club. Jan took great pleasure in cooking and serving her family, and everyone was welcome in her home. Jan is preceded in death by her father Bob Mason, son Cody Dodson, niece Drew Ann Baumann, nephew Dusty Smith, nephew Alexander Mason Miller, and Gary Lynn Wright, whom she loved like a son. Jan is survived by her mother Nonie Baze; husband Olen Dodson, son Charles Dodson and his wife Judy, son Chris Dodson, and Michael Wesley Gatewood, whom she loved like a son; sisters Marissa Carter and Julie Miller; grandchildren Tye and his mother Pepper, Summer and Stetson whom she loved as her own, Kendra, Morgan, Zak, Terra, Garrett and Tehya; great grandchildren Johnathan, Jeremiah, Cayden and Devin, as well as many other beloved nieces and nephews. Jan will be remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
