Read moreThe Brownfield Cubs suffered their first loss of the young season as Lubbock Roosevelt came into town spoiling Brownfields homecoming and leaving with a 4630 victory. The Cubs started off the game hot as their opening possession resulted in six thanks to Gage McPherson on a 26- yard rushing touchdown. Roosevelt however would come out in their triple option offense and answer with a touchdown of their own plus a two-point conversion to give the Eagles a 8-7 lead. It would be long before the Cub offense had an answer however as JJ Martinez found JoJo Carrillo for a touchdown pulling the Cubs back in front 14-8.
