Brownfield defeats Lubbock Cooper Liberty 66-53

The Brownfield Runnin’ Cubs defeated Lubbock Cooper Liberty Friday night 66-53. Basketball is often referred to as a game of runs and that was on full display Friday night. Coming out of the halftime break Brownfield had a 20-16 lead. They would then go on a 15-4 run to create separation in the 3 rd quarter with a 35-20 lead. However, the Patriots would answer with a run of their own clawing back into the game making the score 36-30 still in favor of the Runnin’ Cubs. Going into the final frame of play Brownfield held a 43-35 lead. They went on a 10-3 run making the score 53-38 and never looked back as they were able to leave Lubbock Cooper with the 66-53 win. “I tried to tell them in the locker room exactly what would happen if them, if they came out like I figured they would….which led to us struggling to score.. second half we came out and played a lot harder, especially early in the third quarter.” Coach McPherson said this about the runs his team went on in the second half which were a huge key to their win “Basically what I told them in the locker room was ‘y’all got to play hard, I know you’re tired. I know you’ve worked hard this week between all the stuff between basketball and the weights, and everything else but you have got to go play hard’ and they did when they came out” Play hard they did do as Brownfield is now 2-1 on the year with an opportunity to notch two more wins under their belt before they head into the Thanksgiving break where they will face Sweetwater, and Snyder.

The Walking Poet of Rotan

“The tree said to the leaf, get off of me, it’s time for you to go. The leaf left the tree. As I was walking on that particular day a leaf as light as could be slowly drifted to the ground, not knowing where it would land other than in my hand.”
