8th Annual Vineyard Fest to be held Saturday

It’s not too late to go to the 8th Annual Grape Capital of Texas Vineyard Festival this Saturday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m. The Festival is usually slated for the last weekend in July and is a two day event, however due to COVID-19 the Brownfield Chamber of Commerce limited it to a one day event to and moved the date to this Saturday.

Unemployment rate looking better for Texas, Terry County

The COVID-19 pandemic has helped drive the Texas and U.S. economy into a recession, at least some would say. The U.S. unemployment rate has not gone down as quickly as Texas’ while it sits at 8.4%. In Texas, the unemployment rate now sits at 6.8% which is nearly double from the beginning of the year. According to the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) nearly 3.5 million people have filed for unemployment since mid-March when the coronavirus really hit the state. In the week ending September 12, there were a total of 49,644 Texans who filed applications for unemployment benefits.
