Eudelia was born to Catarino Gonzalez Sr. and Maria Cantu Gonzalez in Rock Springs, Texas. She was a loving person that helped raise everyone’s children. She never had children but was like a mother to everyone. Eudelia was a member of St. Anthony Catholic church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Catarino Gonzalez, Sr. and Maria Cantu Gonzalez. She is also preceded by 8 brothers and sisters, Catarino Gonzalez, Jr., Ernesto Gonzalez, Lionel Gonzalez, Amadeo Gonzalez, Amelia Charles, Estella Trevino, Lidia Almuina, and Maria De Jesus Munoz. Eudelia is survived by four brothers and two sisters, Estevean Gonzalez and wife, Linda, of Lubbock, Elva Davila and husband, Santiago, of Meadow, Alberto Gonzalez of Houston, Ricardo Avila of Seguin, Brenda Gonzalez of Brownfield; and many nieces and nephews.

Michael Wayne Scott, 60, was called home to the Lord on Dec. 27, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brownfield, Texas, to J.W. (Bozo) Scott and Cynthia Stephens. A loving and supportive father, grandfather, husband, brother, son and friend, Michael was a rock to those he loved. His quick wit, sharp humor and indelible charm could bring laughter and joy to any occasion. Michael is survived by his wife of 36 years, Rhonda Scott; his two children, Brian Scott and wife Krista, and Kimberly Welch and husband Tim; three grandchildren, Kynzie, Bryce and Bowen; his mother, Cynthia Scott; two sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Dec. 31, with viewing 3-5 p.m. Dec. 30 at Brownfield Funeral Home, 120 W. Tate St. in Brownfield, Texas.

On December 18, 2020, James Ross (Jim) Campbell, 74, went peacefully home to the Lord as a result of complications related to Frontotemporal Dementia. He had been a resident of Park Place Care Center of Georgetown Texas for the past ten months. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Deanna (Cathey) Campbell; their children, Sarah Morgan and family of Georgetown, Texas and Jason Campbell and family of Mesquite, Texas. He was blessed with 13 grandchildren. Jim is also survived by his five siblings: Freda Jones and family of Seminole, Texas, Gene Campbell and family of Abilene, Texas, Charles Campbell and family of Jasper, Texas, Brenda Jones and family of San Antonio, Texas and Cynthia Bice and family of Olathe, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Willa Dean Campbell of Brownfield, Texas. James was born on January 1, 1946. He loved to brag about being the first baby born in San Angelo, Texas that year. He and Deanna graduated from Brownfield School in 1964. They were married May 6, 1967. After 10 years of service in the Army, attaining the rank of Captain and one tour in Vietnam, the family moved to Seminole, Texas. Over the next 22 years, he and other family members owned two small businesses related to farming. He enjoyed serving his customers. Nothing made Jim happier than walking through the cotton or peanut fields on his small farm. James enjoyed golfing, manicuring his yard, woodworking and twirling around the dance floor with Deanna. In Georgetown, he made many wonderful friends as he improved his pool playing skills. In 2012 he and Deanna moved to Sun City, Georgetown where he was a member of the Billiards Club and The Worship Place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to The Worship Place Building Fund, 811 Sun City Boulevard, Georgetown, Texas, 78633. A graveside service is planned for a later date, in 2021. Jim will be laid to rest in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 State Highway 195, Killeen, Texas. Nita Fay Clare Martin was born to John Brit Clare Sr. and Nina Lee Wells Clare on February 7, 1950 in Brownfield, Texas. Nita went to be with the Lord on December 28, 2020 in Lubbock, Texas. She graduated Brownfield High School in 1969 and attended Midland College. She attended Christian Life Assembly of God where she was a member for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, John B. Clare and Nina Lee Clare; two sisters, Wanda Lee Clare and Emily Darlene Clare Charters; one brother, John B. Clare Jr. Nita is survived by one sister, Jerry Dean Clare Day of Lubbock; one brother, Gary Dane and Reta Clare of Brownfield and many nieces and nephews. There will be a public viewing from 2:00- 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021. A private family graveside service at Terry County Memorial Cemetery.

The Brownfield girls’ basketball team returned to the court on Tuesday afternoon following the Christmas break with a road trip. With only three non district games left on their schedule the Lady Cubs faced off with Class 5A opponent Randall. The last time the Lady Cubs faced off with a Class 5A opponent, they lost their only game of the season.
