There were several speakers in attendance going over subjects such as auxin training, soil health, weed management, updates on rhizonium and bradyrhixobium, making cotton production decisions and viticulture and grape production.

Funeral service for Scarlett Raeyn Villarreal will be held at 2 pm on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Abundant Harvest Community Church. Visitation will be held from 10 am to 8 pm on Saturday and Sunday, March 9 & 10, 2024, at Brownfield Funeral Home. Scarlett passed away on March 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 22, 2016, Scarlett brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. Scarlett’s bright spirit and love for life were evident in everything she did. She enjoyed playing with dice and spinners, going on walks, and eating her favorite foods. Scarlett loved attending school and interacting with her cousins, forming cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Scarlett is preceded in death by grandparent, Joe Villarreal; great-grandparents, Joe and Rebecca Villareal; great-great grandparent, Lucia Martinez, Manuel Perez, Jr., Rachel Perez; uncle, Edward Perez and cousin, Jonah Lucio. Scarlett is survived by her parents, JoSeth Villarreal and Dariann Martinez; sister, Brianna Villarreal; brother, Joe Villarreal, grandparents, Johnny and Helen Martinez, Monica Warren, Becky Garza and Tony Medina; great-great grandparents, Lazaro and Janie Alvarado aunts and uncles, Heather Martinez, Johnny Gomez, Monica and Kevin Gamez, Tessa and Johnny Lucio, Jo’Ana and Jose Jaimes, Johnny Martinez, and Christina and Carlos Rodriguez; great aunt and uncle, Sandra Villarreal and Rick Rodriguez and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Nix Gives Update on CRMWA Shutdown

The Brownfield City Council met Thursday morning for their regularly scheduled meeting to discuss several items on the agenda. Council members Kelli Mendez, J.C. Tijerina, Celso Duran, Leon Pope, Marshall Martell, Mark Williams and Jimmy Garza were all present on the quorum, along with City Manager Jeff Davis, City Secretary Kelly Burris, City Attorney Matt Wade and Mayor Tom Hesse.

Runoff in Place to Decide the Future of Commissioners

The final results of the 2024 Texas primary are in. There were 1,411 total ballots cast, with 1,317 Republican ballots and 94 Democratic ballots cast in Terry County.

Comptroller’s Office Secures Temporary Waiver of Restrictions to Help With Diesel Fuel Supply

(AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today, in partnership with Gov. Greg Abbott, the Comptroller’s office has secured a temporary waiver of state restrictions on the use of dyed diesel fuel for vehicles on Texas roadways and suspended requirements to pay the state motor fuels tax on dyed diesel. The move is in response to the recent wildfires that swept across the Texas Panhandle.
