The new population figures from the American Community Survey indicate Hispanic Texans comprise 40.2% of the state’s population last year, while non-Hispanic white Texans made up 39.4%, as reported in the Texas Tribune.

The life span which could be expected for someone born in 2021 fell to 76.1 years, the lowest since 1996. For males 73.2 years could be expected, with 79.1 years for females.

Beginning with a posted public hearing on the district’s proposed tax rate, Paiva inquired of those in attendance whether anyone had comments on the proposed tax rate. Hearing none, Paiva adjourned the public hearing and moved the meeting to the regular meeting agenda.
