All About Alice guitarist finds inspiration in Brownfield, Meadow

Jack McClanahan is the youngest in his family. He was close with his grandparents, Gilbert and Jackie Mc-Clanahan and Jim and Teresa Back. He shared a love a country music with them and with his parents, Jim and Terri McClanahan. They were fans of the television show “Hee Haw” that was popular in the 1970s and 80s and musicians like Charley Pride and Johnny Cash. He’s been to the Meadow Musical for many years.

No injuries in Friday morning wreck

First responders were called to the scene of a two vehicle wreck Friday morning around 8 a.m., when the driver of a Chrysler PT Cruiser struck the back of a semi truck heading southbound on Hwy 62/82. The Terry County Sheriff’s deputies, along with DPS and the Meadow Fire Department were on scene. According to officers, the driver of the PT Cruiser fell asleep at the wheel. The driver and both passengers, out of Lovington, NM were uninjured. The driver of the semi truck also reported no injuries. Citations were given to the driver of the PT Cruiser.

Wellman-Union students compete at the Texas State Fair

Eoghen Knight has been practicing archery for the past four years. He and his older brothers learned through 4-H. It’s something his father, Josh Knight also enjoys. His mother, Jennifer Riley Knight teaches ag at Wellman-Union ISD. She and her husband, son and the Wellman-Union FFA team got the chance to go to Dallas last week to compete in archery and enter livestock for judging.

Cubs back on track after win against Lamesa

The Brownfield Cubs returned home Friday night for a win against Lamesa on their first home game since Sept. 16. The team was looking to get back on track after dropping back-to-back games and that’s exactly what Brownfield did, defeating Lamesa 30-22 to move to 6-2 and 1-1 in district play.

David Yoskowitz Named Texas Parks and Wildlife Executive Director

David Yoskowitz, Ph.D. was named executive director of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department today at a special meeting of the TPW Commission in Austin, Texas. Yoskowitz is currently the senior executive director and Endowed Chair for Socioeconomics at the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
