The Brownfield City Council accepted the resignation of Police Chief Tony Serbantez in its meeting of November 17, 2022. Serbantez, who concurrently serves as Emergency Management Coordinator for the city, will leave office at the close of the day on Friday, December 30th. On New Year’s Day 2023, he will be sworn into a new position as a Terry County Judge. Serbantez won election to the position on November 8, 2022.

Read moreThe Wildcats beat the Sands Mustangs in the West Texas Youth Football League Championship on Saturday in Wellman. The Wildcats defeated the Mustangs by a score of 34-15. Waylon Worley was selected by the Sands Radio Network as the game’s offensive MVP for his performance. He was said to have “done it all”, leading the team in scoring, and helping the Wildcats win the Championship game. The 8-0 Wildcats team is coached by Jerry Worley, Barrett Brown, Joshua O’Briant and Kelton Coleman.
