Lady Cubs fall on the road to the Lady Wildcats 56-38

The Brownfield Lady Cubs dropped their second district game of the season losing to the Littlefield Lady Wildcats 56-38. Once again the Lady Cubs were without their leader Rhianna Miranda who’s still nursing an injury. Jaelyn Molina jump started the offense as she made a layup and was sent to the free throw line for a chance for a three point play and she would capitalize. Unfortunately those 3 points would be all the Lady Cubs would have for a while as Littlefield would force a couple of turnovers to get easy buckets and began to utilize full court pressure that bothered the Lady Cubs as they would have 10 first quarter turnovers that carried the Lady Cats an 11-0 run at one point. The second half of the first quarter would be a different story as the Lady Cubs were able to make some adjustments and get some stops on the defensive side while getting some baskets. Brownfield was able to outscore Littlefield 7-4 to end the first but would ultimately be trailing 18-10 going to the second frame. The story would feel the exact same as the first quarter with Littlefield coming out on a 8-2 run to start before Amery Pauda would end the run. Once again the Lady Cubs would outscore the Lady Cats to end the quarter but went into the locker room trailing 31-22. The halftime break did no good for the Lady Cub offense as they did not hit their first field goal of the half till 3 minutes in when Lucy Guzman nailed a much needed jumper. Both teams exchanged rather long possessions in the 3 rd quarter which shortened the game. But going into the 4 th Brownfield was still in it only trailing 41-31. Unfortunately Littlefield was able to put a lot of pressure forcing Brownfield into a bunch of turnovers and resulted in a 9-0 run that virtually shut the door for the Lady Cubs. They would not stop fighting as they tried to dig into the deficit but on this night Littlefield took advantage of your turnovers and would go on to win the ballgame 56-38. The Brownfield Lady Cubs will be back in action Friday night as they welcome in Muleshoe and look to get back on track in district, tip-off is set for 6:00 PM.
