Paul M. Farrar, 97, of Denton, died at home October 7, 2018 after a brief illness. Funeral Services are slated at 2 P.M. Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Singing Oaks Church of Christ; Cliff Feeler, former Seniors Minister at First Baptist Church, officiating. Visitation was 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at DeBerry Funeral Directors, burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Farrar is survived by his son, Stanley Farrar of Austin; three daughters, Shirley Farrar Ridley of Denton, Susan Martin of Denton, and Carol Goff of Lewisville; nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. A Denton resident for nearly 35 years, he was a long-time active member of First Baptist Church where he participated in the First Baptist Men’s Association and several mission projects. He also helped build Habitat for Humanity homes in Denton. He was previously an active civic leader and volunteer in Brownfield, Ralls, Perryton and San Angelo, TX, as well as Oklahoma City, OK. A WWII veteran, he served in the U.S. Army and saw active duty in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He recently received the Congressional Veteran Commendation for honorable services performed while a member of the Armed Forces of the United States, and for continued beneficial service to the North Texas community.
