Angelita Sanchez, 69, of Brownfield went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 23, 2022.

A Memorial Service for Angelita Sanchez will be held 10 am, Monday, June 27, 2022 at Brownfield Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, officiated by Pastors Frank and Mirella Tello. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.brownfieldfuneralhome.com.

Angelita was born in Brownfield on August 21, 1952 to Cristabol and Juanita (Grimaldo) Gutierrez. She met her high school sweetheart, Juan V. Sanchez at BHS and they were married September 23, 1969. They raised four wonderful children and served the Lord together for 53 years.

Angelita worked as a CNA and as a Manager for several companies over her life. She spent approximately 25 years in management for Walmart in both Brownfield and Lubbock. She was a strong leader and was a “Mother” to many, opening her home to any who needed help. She and “Pops” were foster parents and were a tremendous encouragement to many over the years. Angelita was a courageous Woman of Faith who boldly spoke the truth in love. She was very active in her church, Living Word of Faith in Lubbock, serving on the worship team as well as many other areas of service.

Angelita is preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Raul, Luis, and Juan V. Gutierrez; a sister, SanJuana Gutierrez; and son-in-law, Travis Abbott.

She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Juan; 2 sons, Juan Jr. (Julie) Sanchez of Lubbock, and Gabriel (Michelle) Sanchez of Andrews; 2 daughters, Christina (Travis) Abbott of Lubbock, and Regina (Jay) Garrett of Hobbs, NM; 3 brothers, Chris, Alfredo, and Roy Jr. Gutierrez; 6 sisters, Victoria Flores, Phyllis Hernandez, Venita Storey, Eloisa G. Mitchell, Janie Gutierrez and Geneva Gutierrez; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
