Coach Sep said, “We knew that the nature of how Hermleigh plays was going to be a battle for us not only physically but mentally as well. Unfortunately, we did not have the mental toughness to overcome what they presented and we suffered.”

The University Interscholastic League (UIL) sent out a guidance for all UIL sanctioned competitions. The UIL is obligated to follow the Texas education Agency’s(TEA) mitigation guidance. TEA has issued instruction that requires all school systems to develop a plan for mitigating COVID-19 spread in schools. With that, the UIL has guidelines requiring schools to include UIL activities for the 2020-2021 school year as part of each school’s plan and carefully plan for mitigating risk of spread as students and staff participate in the UIL activities. Schools must post these plans on the homepage of the school website or other easily accessible area of the school website. However, according to UIL, these plans do not require UIL or TEA approval.

Not only will that be new for the team, so will their coach. This will be Coach Josh Conner’s debut as the new head football coach for the Broncos. The head coaching change was made amid the coronavirus shut down earlier in the year when Coach Steven Gray left for Sudan to take an assistant coaching job. This will be the fifth year in row that the Broncos first game of the season will be with a new coach.
