City Council adopts new tax rate and budget

The Brownfield City Council met Thursday morning for their regularly scheduled meeting to discuss several matters. Council members Kelli Mendez, Celso Duran, J.C Tijerna, Leon Pope, Marshall Martell, Mark Williams and Jimmy Garza were all present on the quorum along with City Manager Jeff Davis and City Secretary Kelly Burris. Mayor Tom Hesse was absent from the meeting. The council discussed several topics on the agenda, but the longest discussion was on adopting the budget for the fiscal year beginning on October 1, 2023 and ending on September 30, 2024.
