The Meadow boys’

The Meadow boys’ golf team is competing in the University Interscholastic League Class 1A golf tournament being held at the Lighthouse Country Club in Kingsland, Texas. At the end of the first day of the two-day tournament, Meadow is currently in sixth place as a team with a total score of 408. The Broncos are represented by Niko Castaneda, Bryden Smith, Dylon Fabila, Taylor Caswell, and Brady Caswell. Meadow teed off at 8 a.m. on May 17, to start its participation in the meet. The club has a yardage of 6,257 and is a par 71. At the end of the first day, Brady Caswell sits in ninth place with an individual score of 87. Taylor Caswell hit a 95 to sit in 20th place in the individual list. The second round will be on Tuesday, May 17.

Department of Transportation restriping roads

The Texas Department of Transportation recently sent out a news release on their $1.92 million project to restripe roads in the Lubbock district. Work began on Friday, May 14 along Farm to Market Road 145 and 1731 in Parmer County. There are 16 counties where work will be done on various roads, which the department stated will cause delays and ask motorists to slow down and drive with caution for the safety of the workers.

CDC changes guidelines for fully vaccinated

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention made an update to its policy on Thursday, May 13 for fully vaccinated individuals. The CDC again stresses that fully vaccinated means that the individual has received both doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or received the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Dr. Kristy Acosta joins BRMC

With Brownfield Regional Medical Center entering a new phase, newly hired Dr. Kristy Acosta is bringing her experience and goals. Dr. Acosta is no stranger to West Texas, she was born and raised in Lamesa where she graduated from Lamesa High School in 2003. After high school, she attended the University of Texas and graduated in 2008. She then did her residency at Johns Peter Smith at Forth Worth. She completed her fellowship in North Carolina where she delivered more than 500 babies and performed 150 C-Sections.
