JIMMY ALLEN KIRKENDOLL

Jimmy Allen Kirkendoll, 89, of Brownfield passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022. He was born on June 10, 1932 to Allen and Robie Kirkendoll in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army. Jimmy married Wanda Kirkendoll on November 10, 1970 in Kermit. He owned Brownfield Commercial Printing for 22 years. He was a member of VFW, American Legion, Brownfield Lodge #903, Brownfield Order of Eastern Star #785 and the First Baptist Church of Brownfield. He is preceded in death by his 2 sons, Johnny Alvin Kirkendoll and Jimmy Allen Kirkendoll, Jr. and his parents, Allen and Robie Kirkendoll. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Wanda Kirkendoll; 2 daughters, Patricia Miller and Sharon and husband Junior Lee Bean; 2 step-daughters, Karen and husband Kenny Godwin and Judy coy; stepson, Mike and wife Esperanza Tutor, 4 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; several great grandchildren and 2 sisters, Gloria Yarbrough and Lois Jean Byford.

Brownfield FFA Stock Show Results

Local stock show results are in. In the Brownfield FFA Stock Show, Gabby Gonzalez took first place and Grand Champion in the goat division and Abby Cruz took second place and Reserve Grand Champion. The sheep had three divisions, fine wool, fine wool cross, and Southdown. Gabby Gonzalez racked up multiple wins, taking breed champion, reserve grand champion, and reserve breed champion in Southdowns. Picking up a third-place finish in the fine wool cross. Jordyn Dissinger was awarded Breed Champion in Fine wool, reserve breed in fine wool cross, and third in the Southdowns. Taryn Ribble took breed and grand champion in fine wool cross, and reserve breed champion in fine wool. Rounding out the sheep division, Halee Williams took third place in fine wool. In the pig divisions, Payzlea Bauman racked up multiple wins, taking breed champion, reserve grand champion in the Berkshire, reserve grand champion in the Cross, and Junior Showmanship grand champion. Rylee Richardson was awarded reserve grand champion in Berkshire, breed champion in Poland, and Senior Showmanship reserve grand champion. Lester Warren and Joey Merritt were awarded the breed champion and reserve breed champion in Duroc. Jordan Garcia took third place in the Durocs, and the Spots class one. Reagan Franklin was awarded breed champion in the Hampshires, and Grand Champion in Senior Showmanship. Rayleigh Perry received reserve breed champion in the Hampshires, Jes’Lynn Perry took third in the Spots class two, Kayleigh Duran, and Jon Rolen took fourth and fifth in the White OPB. Grace Delao was awarded third in the Hampshires, breed and grand champion in the Cross division, and reserve grand champion in the Junior Showmanship. Tucker Cabe took reserve breed champion in the Polands, and second in the Spots class two. Jaeden Perry received third in the Polands, first and breed champion in the Spots class one. Dillon Martinez was awarded fourth in the Polands, and second in the Spots class one. Mikah Valdonado received third in the Cross, and first and reserve breed champion in the Spots class two. Kree Smith took breed champion in the White OPB’s, and fourth in the Cross. Quinnleigh Cabe was awarded reserve breed champion in the White OPB’S, and fifth in the Cross.

Lady Cubs earn fifth straight district win

LITTLEFIELD – The Brownfield Lady Cubs won 58-20 on the road against Littlefield on Friday night. The win gives the defending 3A state and District 3-3A champions a 5-0 record after playing the first cycle. Gabi Fields led the Lady Cubs with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists. Deja Johnson added 13 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block, and 2 assists. Brownfield returns home to host Lamesa on Tuesday and Friona on Friday with both games set for 6:15 p.m.

LADY CUBS WIN FOURTH STRAIGHT DISTRICT GAME

DENVER CITY – The defending Class 3A state and District 3-3A champions Brownfield Lady Cubs defeated the Denver City Fillies Tuesday night 72-35 to improve to 4-0 in district and continue in first place. The Lady Cubs were on the road visiting the Denver City Sports Complex on Tuesday, January 4. Gabi Fields led the Lady Cubs with 20 points, 3 rebounds, 4 steals, adn 2 assists. Deja Johnson had 18 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block, and 2 assists. Dabria Blackwell added 11 points, 1 steal, 2 blocks, and 2 assists off the bench. Lindsey Herrera led the team with 5 steals and 5 assists.

Cubs earn ugly road win

LITTLEFIELD – The Brownfield Cubs defeated Littlefield 45-35 for their third straight District 3-3A win. The defending district champions were short-handed but found a way to earn an ugly but vital road win to continue in a tie for first place. Devin Hines led the Cubs with 4 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, and 2 assists. Jojo Carrillo added 13 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and 4 assists. Joey Martinez had 11 points and 3 rebounds. Quavience Busby helped the team with 8 boards, 4 steals, and a block all to lead the team. The Cubs return home to host Lamesa on Tuesday and Friona on Friday. Both games are set for a 7:30 p.m. tip off.

Cubs second half leads to road win

DENVER CITY – The defending District 3-3A champions Brownfield Cubs went up against a good Mustang squad and struggled in the first half until they turned the game around in the third to steal a 59-54 road win and improve to 2-0 in district. The Cubs were on the road for their second game of district play when they traveled to Denver CIty Sports Complex. Devin Hines led the Cubs with 19 points, 2 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 block, and 1 assist. Jojo Carrillo had 10 points, 3 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists. Jeremiah Tealer led the team with 5 steals and had 8 rebounds. Malik Mason had 8 rebounds with 5 coming on the offensive board.
