Poetry in motion

In a game full of emotion, both sides knew this game was important. The Denver City Mustangs vs. the Brownfield Cubs may have just become a rivalry in baseball. The Cubs took an early deficit and the Mustangs started red hot. That wasn’t the only thing red hot for either ball club. Emotions started to play a part in the game in the 4th inning. The Cubs were robbed of two runs for, “runner interference”. Those two runs would have made the deficit much more manageable at 8-6. Instead the score was brought back down to 8-4. For the rest of the night both sides stayed heated, even the fans were starting to get a little chippy. In the top of the 6th one Denver City batter threw his bat for the second time after a home run and was ejected, the run counted. Going into the 7th inning the score was 10-6, Cubs down by 4. The bottom of the 7th inning was nothing short of poetry in motion. Johnathon Romero started things off with a bang and hit a home run to make the score 10-7. Adriano Mireles got on base immediately after Romero’s home run. Zarius Garcia got to first base and moved Mireles to second. Both runners advanced to the next base with Mireles in scoring position and Garcia on second. Brandon Anthony was up to bat and did exactly what he was supposed to do. Anthony brought in Mireles for an RBI and made the score 10-8. Garcia is now on 3rd and Anthony is on 2nd. Juan Najara gets an RBI and brings in Garcia to make the score 10-9. At this point everyone in the stands and on the field could feel the intensity rising as the Comeback Cubs were trying to catch their next victim. Anthony was still on 2nd base and Najara was on 1st. JJ Martinez was walked to make the bases loaded with one out. Andrew Valenzala ended the game when he hit an RBI double to left field and brought in Anthony and Najara to cap off the poetic comeback win on Senior Night.
