Virgie Irene Henley Chambers, 91 years 10 months and 25 days passed from this earth on October 5, 2020. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Cargile officiating. Burial will follow at Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. A family visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Brownfield Funeral Home. Virgie was born on December 11, 1928 in a half dugout in Dora, NM to Thomas and Annie Henley. She married Clifford Franklin Chambers on December 1, 1947, they were married for 57 years. She was always involved with all six of her children’s activities. Anytime the family got together she always wanted them to play music together. Virgie was involved in the Quilting Guild and Art Association where she won numerous ribbons and awards for crafts, quilts, and paintings. She owned Granny’s Nook for two and a half years. She worked at multiple retail stores in Brownfield and was the manager over the middle school cafeteria for many years. Virgie was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Chambers; son, Royce Chambers; her parents Thomas and Annie Henley; great grandson, Ethen Stovall; two sisters, Adel Lloyd, Lavon Brooks; three brothers, T.J. Henley, Dewey Henley, and Chester Henley. Virgie is survived by five children, Regina Kuipers and husband Ivan of Cottonwood, AZ, Mike Chambers and wife Karen of Brownfield, David Chambers and wife Debbie of Aumsville, OR, Darla Chapman and husband Scott of Las Cruces, NM, and Darrell Chambers of Brownfield; twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernadine Wilson and a host of self-adopted grandchildren.
