A Catholic funeral mass service will be celebrated for Reyes Barrientes Lovington age 82 of Lamesa, TX., at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Chacko Thadathil officiating. Burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, and Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Rosary prayer service will be held on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel. Reyes passed away at his home in Lamesa, TX., on Friday, October 15, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born on January 6, 1939 in Tornillo, TX. Reyes married Erminia Gonzales on February 14, 1981 in Brownfield, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Teresa Lovington, Sr.; his son Reyes Lovington, Jr.; his daughter, Rosalita Lovington Castaneda; his brothers, Ralph Lovington, and Arturo Lovington; his sisters, Eloisa Lovington, and Rosie Lovington; his grandson, Juan “Sonny” Lazo III. Reyes was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. He was a lifelong carpenter up until his illness. He was a collector of antiques, refurbisher of materials, and reusable items. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and was a unique individual, one who never met a stranger. Reyes is survived his wife, Erminia Gonzales of Lamesa, TX.; his sons, Rogelio “Ray” Lovington of Brownfield, TX., Raymond Lovington, and Ruben Lovington, both of George West, TX.; his daughters, Norma Valenzuela, Eloisa Lovington, Melissa Lovington, all of Brownfield, TX., and Terri Cantu and husband, David Cantu of Dilly, TX.; his step-children, Cynthia Almanza, Diana Vasquez, Mario Gonzales and wife, Beatrice Gonzales, Danny Gonzales and wife, Connie Gonzales, Luis Gonzales and wife, Connie Gonzales; his sister, Maria Ellena Lovington Ramos, and Guadalupe Lovington Flores, both of Plainview, TX.; 37 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends.
