Linda Fay Odom, formerly of Brownfield, TX, passed away peacefully, January 24, 2020, in Corpus Christi, TX. She was born in Eldorado, OK, April 12, 1947 to Jess and Eula Mae (Frizzell) Odom. Linda moved to Brownfield, TX, with her family, where she remained through her formative years, graduating from Brownfield High School in 1965. Upon graduation Linda attended Barber College in Lubbock, TX and subsequently completed the Roffler Scuplture-Kut System, a technique using the razor method of hair styling. Linda excelled in her profession becoming one of the first women barbers selected to join the elite Roffler Scuplture-Kut Team. As a member of the team she traveled nationwide sharing her expertise and skills as a master barber. Considered by many to be one of the premiere barber/stylists in the country, Linda enjoyed tremendous professional success. In 1976, she and her business partner, Raul Flores, opened Headquarters Barber Salon, on Everhart Rd. in Corpus Christi, TX. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s she and her team of barbers won countless styling competitions and awards earning Linda the affectionate title, “Mayor” of Everhart. Her career spanned 50 + years affording her the opportunity to work, train, and compete among the top barber/stylists of her day. Linda took great pride in her profession and her talent as a barber. Linda’s one true love was her son Travis, a student of Texas A&M University, sharing his successes with family and friends was her greatest joy. She loved life and was a devoted friend and confidant with a heart the size of Texas. Most will remember her for her infamous laugh, quick wit, and sense of style. Linda is survived by her beloved son, Travis Brown; siblings, Laura (Odom) Clark, Arlan Odom, Kay (Odom) Jeffries, Bobby Odom and wife, Susan; sister-in law, Betty Odom; numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, and her faithful friends who were like family Larry and Pede Kelly, Will and Ashley Cocke, Ross and Linda Cocke. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Eula Mae Odom; brothers, Troy Bryan, Jessie Arron, James Roy “Jimmy” and Winston Odom; sisters-in-law, Peggy and Ruth Ann Odom; niece, DeLynn Jeffries; and nephews, Troy Jr. and Clete Odom. The family will accompany Linda to her final resting place in a private memorial service at Seaside Memorial Park Corpus Christi, TX.
