Graveside services for Joyce “Blondie” Stowe, 84 of Abilene, formerly of Brownfield, were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021 at Meadow Cemetery. Joyce was born to George and Georgia (Mendenhall) Lawson on March 16, 1937 in Keota, Oklahoma. She married Junior Stowe on October 11, 1952 in Frederick, Oklahoma. She moved to Texas in 1963. Joyce worked at Alco Department Store, Allsup’s Convenience Store, she was a volunteer at the hospital as a Pink Lady and she worked on the farm with her spouse for several years. She was a foster parent, she enjoyed fishing, gardening, bird watching, listening to Gospel songs, her favorite thing to do was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Joyce’s family remembers her as a very loving and giving mother, her smile was contagious. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Junior Stowe; son: James Stowe; grandson: Keith Stowe; brothers: Sonny Lawson, Omer Lawson, Ray Lawson, Arnold Lawson, Doug Lawson, Shuler Lawson; sisters: Lois Wall, Edgle Holton. Survivors: son: Bobby Stowe of Brownfield. daughters: Leverne (Olan) Gunter of Abilene, Edgle (Danny) Dyer of Brownfield, Lenora Stowe of Brownfield. 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
