Jeannette Colleen Perecz Head passed away peacefully, Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the age of 78 where she was surrounded by family. She was born in Everett, WA on December 14, 1942 to Jimmy and Geraldine Perecz. She grew up and lived in Washington and Alaska until she met her husband, Edward Jerome Head who was stationed in Palmer, AK in the army, they were married in 1962. They moved to Plains, TX in 1964 where they raised their two daughters, Lori and Deborah. Jeannette was an active member of her community for the 57 years she lived in Plains. She was part of the Stanford Valley Extension Club, Yoakum County Connection, and Watermelon Round-Up for 20 years. She was also an active member of the Yoakum County Historical Commission, Red Hat Society, Yoakum County Heritage and Art Museum, Yoakum County Art Association, and was involved in the 4-H organization, Plains ISD Band Boosters, coached Little Dribblers for several years, and was very active in her church; First United Methodist Church of Plains. In addition to being an involved member of her community she also worked as a secretary with Lea County Electric of Plains for 18 years until she retired and continued on as a Professional Bail Bondsman of Texas. Jeannette was known for her laughter, her giving spirit, and for giving her time to her community. She rarely met a stranger and would strike up conversation with anyone who was willing to listen. She had a very giving heart and gave of herself to everyone around her. She worked hard and loved her family. She was always full of trivial information and had a vast knowledge of many things. Jeannette was her happiest when she was surrounded by family, cooking for her loved ones and her church as well as teaching others how to cook, bake, and the ways of the world. Jeannette is survived by her children Laurel “Lori” Matus and her husband John of San Angelo, Texas; Deborah Sellers and her husband Dale of Plains; grandchildren Maysen and Brysen Brown from Friendswood and Conroe, Texas; granddaughter Sharla Vantine and great-granddaughter Lily-Ann of Plains, Texas; granddaughter Ashley Hunt, and great-grandchildren Chloee, Baylee, and Tyler of Allen, Texas and Harlee Hunt Levelland; granddaughter Shyann Hunt, husband Terrell, and great-grandchildren Matus, Meadow, and Memphis of Brownfield along with many other family members in Washington and Alaska. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Jerome Head; parents Jimmy and Geraldine Perecz; and brother, Michael Perecz. Jeannette request that family and friend gather, not to mourn her passing, but to celebrate her life on Saturday, February 13 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Plains. The family of Jeannette would like to thank all those that have shown us support during this trying time. We would like to also thank Dr. Scott Frankfather and the team at Yoakum County Hospital who cared for her. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the texasboysranch.org, Texas Boys Ranch Po Box 5665, Lubbock, Texas 79408.
