Funeral services for Genoveva Banda, 82, of Wellman TX, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Brownfield Funeral Home with Deacon George Holguin officiating. Burial will follow in the Seagraves Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. Rosary will be held at 6:00 pm Monday, February 7, 2022, at Brownfield Funeral Home. Genoveva went to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 1, 2022, peacefully at home with family by her side. She was born Jan 3, 1940, to Francisco and Reynalda Davila in Hargill, TX where she also met and married the love of her life, her husband of 42 years Manuel Banda. They then moved to Wellman in 1967 from Bledsoe and had three children. Genoveva was a housewife who loved to cook, sew, and play Lateria (Spanish bingo), and also enjoyed family gatherings. She is survived by one daughter Lucy (K.T.) Hughes of Wellman, one son Rudy (Lisa) Banda of Brownfield, three sisters Santos Davila of Hargill, TX, Gloria Castaneda of New Braunfels, and Dolores Garcia of Idaho. Mrs. Banda had 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She and her husband raised two of their granddaughters, Teresa Franco and Amanda Banda Espino. Genoveva is preceded in death by her husband Manuel Banda, daughter Manuela (Nellie) Ortiz, granddaughter Gloria Ortiz, four brothers, four sisters, and many many loved ones. Special thanks to her caregiver, Interim Home Health and Hospice, and granddaughter, Juanita Alavols.
