Graveside Services for Aurelio Serna Sr. were held 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 6, 2020 at Brownfield Cemetery. Officiating will be Monseigneur Gerald Latham. Services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Brownfield. He died Tuesday, November 3, 2020 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born September 20, 1933 in Las Ajuntas, Zacatecas, Mexico to Fermin Serna Carrilo and Guadalupe Serna Bueno. He married Esperanza Mendez 1952 in Torreon Coahuila, Mexico; they settled in Seagraves and later moved to Brownfield and farmed in Brownfield and Seagraves for over 50 years and worked with the City of Brownfield several years and had his own business. He loved to dance and sing. He absolutely loved his family. He was caring and helped anyone that asked for help. He was a gentle giant, always giving to everyone no matter who it was. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esperanza Serna and sons Roman Serna, and Aurelio Serna Jr; a brother Pedro Serna; sisters Olivia Avalos, Soledad Alva, and Maria de la Luz Serna. He is survived by five sons; Fermin Serna (Lupe) of Brownfield, Johnny Serna (Kristi) of Lubbock, Mario Serna (Eloisa) of Lubbock, Alfred Serna of Lubbock and Jerry Serna (Ysabel) of Wolfforth and a sister, Avelina Cruz of Lubbock, Texas; a sister Avelina Cruz of Lubbock, Texas and a daughter-in-law Maria Serna. Rosary will be held from 7-8 P.M. in Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel.
