The defense came up big on a fourth and short, forcing a Yellow Jacket turnover on downs. That led to the eventual 76 yard run by Zarius Garcia for the go ahead score and the win.

The Broncos, still seeking their first win, will travel to Borden County, where they will face off against the 4-2 Coyotes. The Coyotes are going to be coming into Friday night’s game after a 77-31 win over Jonesboro. The Broncos are coming off a tough loss to the Wellman-Union Wildcats. Meadow played exceptionally well in their first District match up against the Wildcats, but struggled defensively to slow down their opponent. The Broncos lost that match up 64-52, after coming alive in the second half, scoring 36 points in the final two quarters alone. Coach Conner and his guys are looking to keep the momentum alive from last Friday, as well as work on improving in the areas that they were weakest. The Coyotes will be a tough match up for the Broncos, as they are highly ranked across the board. The Broncos had home field advantage last week but will be traveling a little over an hour to Friday night’s game. Kick-off will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Borden County.

Read moreAfter a District shootout in Meadow Friday night, the Wellman-Union Wildcats emerged victorious. The Wildcats took the 64-52 win over the home town Meadow Broncos. The Wildcats were first to score in the game, going up by 16 at the end of the first quarter. The Broncos, after a scoreless first quarter, were able to begin their attack early in the second. The Broncos came away with 8 points after a quick second quarter score but had a tough time defensively, in containing the Wildcats. Wellman Union’s Carson Sessums was quick to answer back with a score of his own, adding to the Wildcat lead. The Wildcats continued to hack away at the Bronco defense. The score being 42-16 at the end of the first half, with Meadow’s Caleb Sanchez putting up the Broncos second score of the first half. After halftime, the Broncos returned to the field with a new found momentum. Things began to click offensively for the Broncos, as they continued to put points on the board in the third and forth quarters. Unfortunately for the Broncos, despite their attack, the Wildcats continued to have their way with the Broncos defense. The Broncos outscored the Wildcats 36-22 in the final two quarters but the damage from the previous two had already been done. The Wildcats took the District win and are now 1-0. The Wildcats will host Whiteface at home next Friday. The Meadow Broncos who are now 0-1 in District will look to host Borden County in Meadow next Friday.
