JoAnn R. Kennedy went peacefully to see the Lord and her beloved husband John D. Kennedy on June 12, 2021. JoAnn was born in Taft, Texas on May 17, 1944, and was raised by her loving grandparents Calistro and Maria Peralez. Her family moved to Brownfield, Texas in the late 50’s were she lived for 30 years and raised her 3 children. She moved to Houston in the early 90’s where she met the love of her life, John D. Kennedy. They were married on July 29, 1995. JoAnn was a beautiful smart creative person who loved helping people with her gift of decorating for any occasion. She loved to craft, sew and loved to travel. She was loved by all who knew her. JoAnn is preceded in death by her 3 infant daughters, 2 brothers and a sister, her loving grandparents and her beloved husband John. JoAnn is survived by her children; Jocque Garcia and his wife Rosalita of Odessa, Texas, Janet Johnson and her husband Byron of Denton, Texas, Jennifer Baldridge of Mobile, Alabama and Sandy King and her husband Charlie of Cypress, Texas, 4 brothers and 4 sisters. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren that lovingly knew her as Nannie. The funeral is scheduled for Friday, 10am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4419 N. Main St. Houston, Texas 77009. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

She is preceded in death by her late husband Francisco Cavazos, her parents Fidel and Maria Luisa, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Tim was born August 14, 1947 in Coolidge, AZ to Billy and Mabel Hales. Tim married Freda Price on April 10, 1999 in Brownfield, TX. Tim began working at a very young age and had a successful career in the oil field for over 30 years. His favorite hobby was fishing and spending time with his family and most importantly, his grandchildren. Tim is preceded in death by his parents, late wife, Shirley, one brother, four sisters, and a stepson. Tim is survived by his wife, Freda of Brownfield, his two daughters, Melissa Hope and husband Jimmy of Brownfield, Angela Perez and husband Pete of Brownfield, and his son Chris Moore and wife Angie of Lubbock, eleven grandchildren, Josh Hope and wife Andrea of Lubbock, TX, Brittney Jimenez and husband Michael, Jr of Brownfield, Kortney Valdez and husband Rocky of Lubbock, Aaron Moore and wife Anna of Brownfield, Tessa Howard and husband Dillon of Brownfield, Kaylee Hales and husband Angel of Brownfield, AmBree Moore of Lubbock, Jarred and Josh Gibson of Lubbock, Katie and Brian Benavidez of Brownfield, and ten great-grandchildren. There are six surviving brothers, and they are Utah of Rockdale, Buck of Brownfield, Tex of Brownfield, Marty and wife Barbara of Brownfield, Brazle and wife Sherry of Havana, AR, and Clifford and wife, Pat, of Plainview, AR. The one surviving sister is Anita Powell of Brownfield.

He was born May 29, 1941 in Lamesa, Texas to the late Fred Nichols and Thelma Marks Nichols. He farmed and raised cattle, goats and sheep. He attended school in Coahoma and Seminole and was a member of the Church of Christ and was 32 nd degree Mason with Masonic Lodge #903. He was preceded in death by a brother Donald Nichols. Survivors include; two sons; Clay Nichols of Brownfield and Tray Nichols of Delaware; a daughter Lauri Beavers and her husband Matt of Ft. Worth, Texas; a brother Alfred Nichols and his wife Hilda of Seagraves also five grandchildren.

Read moreJo and Homer E. Jones were laid to rest at the Terry County Cemetery on November 7, 2020. Jo and Homer were life-long West Texans, born, reared, and wed while in Slaton. Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Aquila and Viola Pruitt, and four siblings. Homer was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Ethel Jones, and seven siblings. They also had a son, Barry, and granddaughter, Jill, who preceded them and are interred beside them in Brownfield. They are survived by three sons, and a daughter: Homer Jones, Jr. and spouse, Jane; Rick Jones and spouse, Georgia; Larry Jones and spouse, Cindy; and daughter Dorinda Cooper and spouse Michael Cooper. They have eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, with one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild due in July. Homer was a WWII veteran and Ex-POW. Homer and Jo were wed June 1, 1946, in Slaton, while he was enrolled in Texas Tech College, and they lived in Slaton after their marriage. After receiving his BS degree from Texas Tech, they moved to Wellman, where he took a teaching position as Wellman's first Vocational Ag teacher. He served in that capacity for 35 years. They moved to Lubbock in 2000 after 52 years in Wellman. Homer was a minister of the Lord’s word at several congregations of the Churches of Christ, including Wellman, Graham Chapel, Grassland, and others. He was also a farmer, store clerk, cotton gin employee, loving husband, father of five, teacher and mentor of two generations, good friend, and patriot. Jo was a farm girl who, during WWII, became a bank teller in Wilson, was assistant post-mistress in Wellman, store clerk, devoted, supportive wife, nurturing, doting, mother of five, and dear faithful friend. Above all, both loved God, His Son and, His word. They were pure examples of Christ’s teachings and showed that through their cherishing love for each other, their children, family, friends, community, and the United States of America. Their passing has left a void in thousands of peoples lives. They are truly missed. The public is invited to a Memorial and Celebration of the lives of Homer and Jo. It will be held Memorial Day, May 31, 2021, at 2 pm, at South Plains Church of Christ; 6802 Elkhart Ave. in Lubbock, TX. The family is inviting all to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children’s Home of Lubbock or the South Plains Honor Flight.

Dorothy was born on May 8, 1928 in Palestine, Texas to Bessie Arrendell and Robert Harp. On July, 24, 1944, she married Calvin Ingram of Tennessee Colony, Texas. They moved to West Texas in 1948 and lived in Meadow, TX for 50 years before moving to Bullard. Dorothy loved her family and friends and she never met a stranger. She loved to play cards and dominoes, sew, quilt, garden, play games with family and sit on her porch watching the birds. She was a great cook, baker, and an avid country music lover. Dorothy was known for her strength of mind and people remember her as fun to be around. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Harp: her mother, Bessie Arrendell; and stepfather, Gene Arrendell; one sister, Bobbie Hudson; and son, Larry. She is survived by three daughters, Brenda (James) Ivey of Flint, TX, Cuban (Ronnie) Hartman of Tyler, TX, and Dell (James) Ward of Texarkana, TX; several nieces, nephews, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. A funeral service for Mrs. Ingram will be held on Wednesday, May 26th at 11 a.m. at Herrington/ Land of Memory Funeral Home, 3434 South Loop 256 in Palestine, TX.
