Funeral Service for Kenneth Dale Rodgers, 66, of Brownfield wereheld at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Brownfield Funeral Home with Florentino Serbantez officiating. Visitation was held from 5-6 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Brownfield Funeral Home. Kenny was born on January 1, 1956 to Jimmie Dale and Elaine Rodgers in Brownfield. He graduated from Brownfield High School. He coowned and worked as a mechanic at Downtown Auto and contracted overseas. He was a loving father, grandfather, fiancé, brother and friend. Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Elaine Rodgers and a niece, Shannon Ryan. Kenny is survived by two daughters, Kari Dale Anderberg and husband Zak and Misty Day; four grandchildren, Tucker Harding, Dracen Harding, Sorin Anderberg and Kieron Dale Anderberg; fiancé, Mandy Kumpe; siblings, Tracy Rodgers and wife Lisa and Sherry Rodgers; six nieces and a nephew.

He was a hard worker like his dad, which led him to owning and operating Floyd Trucking. O.E. loved to sing gospel and sang with the Sweet Spirit Singers at Calvary Baptist Church. He liked joking and did not have to know a person long before giving them a nickname. His first love was horses. He had a good relationship with his nieces and nephews. O.E. was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Floyd; his parents, Olon Edward Floyd, Sr. and Inez Floyd and a brother, Cletus Edward Floyd. O.E. is survived by his sister, Frances Johnson of Brownfield; sisters-in-laws, Juanita Parsons of Kyle and Barbara Lawson of Wolfforth and numerous nieces and nephews.

He married Cecilia “Cindy” Lovinggood on August 8, 1958, in San Angelo, Texas. He graduated from high school in San Angelo, Texas. He served in the Army and was stationed in Korea for two years. He met the love of his life and began his family after his service. He worked almost 30 years for Amoco Production Company, starting as a roustabout and worked his way to District Foreman. When he was not working, he enjoyed spending time with family, doing home projects, fishing and attending various sporting events watching his kids and grandkids. He had a wonderful personality that you could not forget and was loved by many. He will be missed. Survivors include his children, Brad (Misty) Wilson, Darrell (LeaAnn) Wilson, Carl (Charee) Wilson; grandchildren, Kinsey (Bradon) Loya, Taylor (Tucker) Cromer, Kristyn Wilson, Kylar Wilson, Cambree Wilson, Addison Wilson, Carlee Wilson, Chandler Wilson; great-grandchildren, Kaislyn Gober, Everly Loya, Cohen Loya, Kaden Gober He was preceded in death by wife, Cecilia Wilson; father, Rob Wilson; mother, Beulah Wilson; three brothers and one sister.

He was born on August 29, 1966, to Pablo and Rosalinda Cortez in Lamesa, Texas. He married the love of his life in September of 1989 in Brownfield, Texas, and would go on to move to Oklahoma where he would start a restaurant and raise his family. Ismael was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of Giancarlos, Ismael Jr., Esther, and Blanca and always tried his best to support them. Ismael was also as passionate about spending time with his wife and grandkids. He could often be found out on dates with his wife or traveling to see the grandkids. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life of 32 years MaryAnn Cortez of Davidson OK, His children and their spouses, Giancarlos Cortez and Alisha Cortez of Carl Junction, MO, Ismael Cortez Jr. and Cristina Cortez of Odessa, TX, Esther Reyes and Carlos Reyes of Stacy, MN, Blanca Langley and Kalan Langley of Owasso, OK. As well as seven grandkids Payton, Aubrey, Oakley, Roxanne, Weston, Malia, and Shekinah. His parents Pablo and Rosalinda Cortez and seven brothers and sisters, Hector Cortez, Dora Cortez, Irene Cortez, Irma Cortez, Rebecca and Mike Franklin, Jeremiah Cortez, Phoebe Cortez, and Priscilla Cortez, and many many nieces and nephews. He will be joined in death by his granddaughter Ember Langley, grandparents Bernadino and Maria Cortez, Juan and Isabel Lopez, his sister Esther Cortez, his in-laws David and Donna Perez, and brother-in-law Rudy Perez as well as other family members. The family requests that all flowers be sent to the funeral home. There will be a visitation on Monday, January 24, 2022, from 5-7 pm and a celebration of life on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 10am at Brownfield Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Brownfield Cemetery.
Read moreEmily Simpson, age 80, passed away on January 16, 2022, in Georgetown, Texas. Emily was born on December 4, 1941, in Brownfield, Texas to Bill and Beatrice Blackstock. She attended Gomez and Brownfield schools. She became a Christian at age nine at the Gomez Baptist Church. By then, Emily was already driving by herself to church down the dirt roads to play the piano for the congregation. Emily graduated from both Brownfield High School and Baylor University.Emily married Doyle Simpson in Brownfield on June 21, 1964 in the yard of her childhood home. Emily wrote, “Doyle has been a wonderful husband, and I have always admired him for standing strong in his Christian faith.”Emily taught in the Brownfield schools and then stayed home with her daughters Laura and Amy when they were young. She taught English, history, and reading at Brownfield High School. Emily said, “I have many fond memories of teachers and students from this time.”Her first love and priority was her family. She wrote, “I have loved being close to my parents, sisters, nieces, and nephews throughout my life.” Emily often volunteered at church. She taught first grade Sunday School at First Baptist Brownfield for many years. In her teaching position, she enjoyed working with Avis Farrar and Anna Lee Dumas. It was very meaningful to her when her daughter and one nephew came to accept Christ during the time she was their Sunday School teacher. For many years in Brownfield, Emily also worked with the Terry County Historical Commission.Emily and Doyle moved to Georgetown in 2002. They joined First Baptist Georgetown. Emily volunteered with the Merry Christmas with Love and Stamping ministries. She especially loved being part of the Faculty and Staff Appreciation Committee. Emily loved volunteering to read weekly to classrooms at Annie Purl Elementary, where Amy is a librarian. Emily always enjoyed sharing her love of reading and adopting classrooms at Annie Purl. The Oak Ridge Ministry held a very special place in her heart, and she was proud to support this ministry. Emily was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Donna Blackstock; and husband, Doyle. Emily is survived by her daughters Laura (Jim) of Belton and Amy of Georgetown; grandson Josh and granddaughter Rebecca; two sisters, Mary Jane Jackson and Billie Faught of Brownfield; and many cousins, nephews, and nieces. Emily wrote, “God has given me much joy and happiness on Earth. He will be laid to rest in the Brownfield Cemetery near his former wife and son. David was born on February 3, 1952 to Bonifacio Vasquez Hernandez and Tomasita Martinez Hernandez. He attended Dawson ISD where he played football, to which his siblings still remember his nickname being “BiBi”. During his 11th grade year of high school he met Hilda Bravo Vasquez and ended up marrying and having six children, David Hernandez Jr., Jose Luis Hernandez, Chon Hector Hernandez, Christopher Shawn Hernandez, Andrea Hernandez, and Joshua Matthew Hernandez, settling in Brownfield, TX. He was a man with many hats working at differing labor jobs such as the Lamesa Pumpkin Center, skilled farmer for Jerry McNeil Farms, working in the oil field, and his final job at Gentry Brothers horse farms. In the 1970s David and Hilda attended Templo Sinai under Pastor Samuel Milliano and while there joined the band called Los Nazarenos, where he traveled for two years playing the drums, organ, and singing for the Lord! After years of working in different locations throughout west Texas he ended up back in Brownfield where he would retire with his family. His last words were “I’m ready, to go be with the Lord” with tears in his eyes requesting that he worship the Lord by music as the Lord took him. Things that David loved were motorcycles, live band music, loved to travel, camp outs, fishing, and nature, and most of all he LOVED to eat. Every spring David had his garden with windmills, bird seed, and flags, hand painted portraits and puzzles! He will be deeply missed and always loved forever. David was preceded in death by his parents Bonifacio Vasquez Hernandez and Tomasita Martinez Hernandez and sister Elicia Hernandez - Vasquez and two sons, David Jr. Hernandez, Joe Luis Hernandez and his beloved ex-wife Hilda B Vasquez. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Mary Lou Hernandez - Savedra, Mary Ann Hernandez - Alonzo, Ramon Hernandez, Encarnacion ( Chon ) Hernandez, Bonifacio Jr. Hernandez, four living children, Chon Hector Hernandez, Christopher Shawn Hernandez, Andrea Hernandez - Rodriquez, and Joshua Matthew Hernandez, 19 grandchildren, Adrianna Hernandez, BreAnna Hernandez, Jamality Hernandez, Christopher Hernandez, Travis K Hernandez, Haley Kristen Pauda Hernandez, Janessa Marie Pauda Hernandez, Kamryn Paris Hernandez, Willow Rose Vera Hernandez, Ema A Rodriquez, Angel M Rodriquez, Nevaeh K Rodriquez, Angelina M Rodriquez, Frankie Jr Rodriquez, Victoria G Rodriquez, Elizabeth D Rodriquez, John S Rodriquez, Sarah B Rodriquez, David N Rodriquez, nine great - grandchildren, numerous nephews, and niece’s and friends. He was born on October 25, 1940 in Dublin, Ireland to Joseph and Brigid Leatham. He left Ireland at the age of 13 to attend Highcliffe Castle Claretian Seminary in Dorsett, England from 1953-1965. He was ordained a Catholic priest in 1965. In England, he worked as a priest near London for 3 years. From 1968-1990 he served in Entre Rios and Livingston, Guatemala during the time of the Guatemalan Civil War. He then arrived in the Diocese of Lubbock in 1990, serving in Spur, Snyder, and Brownfield, TX until 2015. Monsignor Gerry was passionate about his family, friends and his ministry. He has impacted many lives in many countries. His life was fueled by his love and devotion to his many parishioners and fellow clergy. His sense of humor, genuine love of others, and generous spirit has been an inspiration for all who have known him. Gerry uniquely brought light and love to those suffering war, poverty, sickness, and loss. Father Gerry loved soccer and American football, especially Manchester United and the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed sharing his love of music and British television. One of his favorite experiences was officially becoming a US citizen in 2003. He is preceded in death by his loving sister Angela Ryan (Ireland), his loving brothers Brian Leatham (South Africa), John Leatham (Ireland) his brother-in-law Martin Ryan, sister-in-law Anna Leatham, his niece Jackie Leatham Corbett (Ireland). Sadly he is missed by his brothers Brendan and Paddy and his sister Philomena, his brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, his cousins and his many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, his extended family and his many good friends and neighbors in Killala Road, Dublin and across the world. Monsignor Gerald Leatham’s funeral was held on January 18 at 10a.m. at St, Anthony Catholic Church in Brownfield, Tx with burial followed at Terry County Cemetery. Viewing was held onMonday starting at 10am at Brownfield Funeral Home and Rosary at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church from 6-8 pm.

She was born on November 7, 1945, in Temple, Texas. She grew up in the Houston suburbs. In 1959, she moved to Brownfield with her parents. She then met the love of her life, Felix Perez Jr. II. They married in 1963 and had 12 children. Alicia was known to everyone as Nana, Licha, and Mrs. Perez. Her passion was cooking and she loved to feed everyone’s children. She is survived by two sisters, Mary Helen Garcia of Abilene, Tx., Gloria Garcia of Abilene, six sons, Ricky Perez and wife Debbie of Brownfield, Felix Perez III of Brownfield, Pete Perez and wife Angela of Brownfield, Joel Perez of Brownfield, Max Perez of Snyder, Tx, Ramon Perez of Brownfield. Four daughters, Betty and husband Eloy Vela of Brownfield, Cecelia Perez of Austin, Tx, Debra Perez Coronado of Dallas, Tx, and Erica Perez of New Braunfels, Tx. Two adopted children, Trystan and Felicity Perez, 34 Grandchildren, and 17 Great Grandchildren. She was blessed with an abundance of nieces, nephews and welcomed any child as her own. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Felix Perez Jr. II; her parents Trinidad and Susie Garcia; four brothers Joe Garcia, Trinidad Garcia Jr., Tony Garcia, and Jimmy Garcia; her twin sons Micheal and Mark Perez; and one grandson Ricky Perez Jr.
