USDA is modifying the Annual Forage Insurance Program to make it more sustainable and to allow producers more flexibility. This includes allowing producers to choose the areas which they insure, rather than being required to insure all eligible acres. The changes will take effect for the 2024 crop year.

Read moreOn June 22, 2023, the Brownfield Police Department received a complaint on Sergeant Randi Rogers who is employed by this department. The complaint alleged violations of department policy as well as criminal law. This incident occurred at the CEFCO convenience store located in the 100 Block of North First Street in Brownfield. The criminal investigation of Ms. Rogers was handed over to the Texas Rangers on July 3, 2023. Ms. Rogers was put on administrative leave the same day and notified of the pending criminal and administrative investigations. The Texas Rangers investigated the incident and presented their findings to the grand jury on Thursday August 3, 2023. Ms. Rogers was indicted by the grand jury on one count of Invasive Visual Recording, two counts of Tampering with a Government Document, and two counts of Tampering with Evidence. Ms. Rogers turned herself into the Terry County Jail this morning on the above charges. Ms. Rogers will remain on administrative leave pending the completion of an administrative investigation. No further details are available currently as this is an ongoing criminal investigation. The Brownfield Police Department takes employee misconduct seriously and will continue to investigate any allegations of misconduct on its employees to ensure that we provide the best possible service to the community.
