One dead, three injured after two-vehicle accident near Brownfield

A two-vehicle collision five miles west of Brownfield on US 82 Tuesday night has left one dead and three others injured.
Department of Public Safety Sgt. Bryan Witt said Bruno Gonzales,79, of Plains was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Angie Garza after the vehicle he was driving, a 2003 Ford pickup, collided with a 2013 Chevrolet pickup driven by Juan Antonio Gomez ,43,of Lubbock at about 8:49 p.m. Tuesday.
Witt said the 2013 Chevrolet pickup was traveling eastbound on US 82 when it veered into the westbound lane striking the 2003 Ford pickup on the left front of the vehicle.
The passenger in the Ford pickup, Anita Gonzales,78, also from Plains, was taken to the University Medical Center in Lubbock and is listed in serious condition.
Angel Gomez, 23, from Lubbock, was a passenger in the Chevrolet pickup and was sent to Brownfield Regional Medical Center. He was treated and released.
Juan Antonio Gomez was taken to Covenant Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.
Bruno Gonzales was transported to Brownfield Funeral Home.
All individuals involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts.
A citation resulting from the accident is pending, said Witt.
