The Lady Broncos fared slightly better than the boys team with a narrow 30-31 loss that was preferable to their 23-point defeat Jan. 8 when they last faced the Lady Eagles, but not exactly fun either. A full half of their points came from baskets behind the three-point line.

The lead changed constantly through the first half, with the score tied 9-9 and 18-18 at each of the first two quarters. The home team was down by about five through most of the third, then nearly evened it back up. They reached what would become the final score with three minutes left in the game, during which time they managed only a single possession that quickly turned over.

The Lady Broncos (now 7-6) will wrap up their season Tuesday in New Home. Head Coach Ryan Bobo said that although a victory and resulting playoff chance would have been great, he was still pleased with his team’s defensive efforts.

"I thought we played very well,” he said. "We were just inches away from pulling a win. I’m proud of the girls. I wish the outcome would have been different, but they played hard.”

Scorers included Lexy Silva 1-1 4-8 9, Tamara Vela 2-0 3-4 7, Carla Rodriguez, Katlen Davila 0-1 2-2 5 and Kelsey Saenz 0-1 3. Ropes’ Karli Langehennig led the Lady Eagles with 11.
