Meadow suffered an unfortunate, rare loss Tuesday night, but not without a fight.
The Broncos ultimately fell to Petersburg 38-41 in double-overtime, leaving the talented Buffaloes as likely contenders for the district championship.
The girls team suffered a similar fate with a 38-42 defeat to the Lady Buffaloes.
The Lady Broncos were down 4-9 at the first quarter, 16-27 at halftime and 23-30 at the third. A comeback in the fourth just didn’t seem feasible when Petersburg’s free throws landed and theirs missed.
Junior Carla Rodriguez led with 12 points and freshman Lexy Silva followed with 11.
The Broncos and Lady Broncos will be back home Friday to host the Lorenzo Hornets.
