Lady Broncos jump into hoops season
Meadow’s 2012-13 Lady Bronco hoops squad consists of (left to right) Assistant Coach Colton Martin, Emily Rodriguez, Bethany Flores, Carla Rodriguez, Reina Garza, Lexy Silva, Kelsey Saenz, Tamara Vela, Katlen Davila and Head Coach Ryan Bobo.

Meadow girls basketball is halfway through district season, and the Lady Broncos have some big hopes with hoops.

"Obviously, our goal is to make playoffs and improve on a daily basis,” said head coach Ryan Bobo.
And they seem to be headed that way.

So far an impressive 5-2 in district and 11-12 overall, a highlight from this season was when the Lady Broncos won the Cotton Center tournament Dec. 1 after they defeated the hosting team in the championship round.

"(It was) a big accomplishment for a very young team,” said head coach Ryan Bobo.

Top players this year are Tamara Vela, a junior returning from last year, and newcomer Lexy Silva, a freshman. Both routinely score in the double-digits.

"They have been our leading scorers and rebounders throughout the season,” Bobo said.

Following the University Interscholastic League’s realignment last spring, district opponents this year include Lorenzo, Ropes, Petersburg, Southland, Wilson and Lubbock-Harmony Science Academy.
